What to expect

Cycling.

This is not a race! But cycling up to 125miles a day is not easy. This is a real challenge but very much achievable with training. We would expect you to have ridden at least 100miles in a day before attempting the Lap. You will usually find others riding at the same pace as you and we aim to make sure nobody rides alone. If you do end up riding alone we try and keep an eye on you from the support vehicles!

We require you to have a Garmin or similar navigational aid so you can follow the route without relying on others. (The route is not signed)

Support.

We typically have three support vehicles on the Lap. A van to carry your overnight luggage from hotel to hotel and a van to be at each of the rest stops with a selection of tasty treats to power you on. We also carry a stock of inner tubes, chains and tyres should they become required.

Our support car can also be seen along the route and also carries a selection of useful items. You will be given a wristband with the number for the support crew should you need it.

Rest.

At the end of each day you get to rest and recover in the luxury of a hotel. The van will be waiting with your bags and once checked in you are free to cry in your room or join your fellow cyclists for a well earned drink in the bar.

LOA The Movie!

Check out this short film to get a glimpse of what life on the Lap is like! 4 days and 435miles condensed into 2minutes.

The Rewards.

Team.

With up to 50 riders taking part each year, many returning again and again, the Lap can become the starting point for new friendships. Our facebook group is a great place to keep touch and let others know what cycling adventures you’ve been up to. There’s also a Strava group for our past and present riders.

Finish and Medals.

It’s very satisfying to know you have helped save lives by funding the East Anglian Air Ambulance and that you’ve done it by exploring the beauty of East Anglia by cycle. You also get a medal to remind you and others of your epic achievement.
